In light of a promise made by the Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, to create a new department under the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), with the specific directive to assist traders in establishing lasting partnerships with overseas associates. The AdvoKC team conducted investigations on two separate occasions during a visit to the agency's office. Here is the compiled update on the progress of this promise:

PROMISE: “A new department of ANSIPPA( import to export department) will specifically assist our traders to forge durable partnerships with overseas partners.”

During the initial visit in March of 2023, the AdvoKC team inquired about the department's status upon reaching the ANSIPPA building, and the receptionist directed them to the office of the Technical Officer. The Technical Officer revealed that a board meeting was planned for April of the same year. He explained that the agency was actively working towards establishing a new commission, which would be named the Anambra Development and Investment Cooperation (ADIC). The proposed import-to-export department would operate under the umbrella of this newly formed commission. It was clarified that ADIC would be a private commission, distinct from a public entity, and would be situated within ANSIPPA.

In a subsequent visit in July of 2023, the AdvoKC team managed to speak directly with the Technical Officer, Mr Chinedu, who provided further information on the progress of the promise. It was disclosed that ADIC's establishment had been rescheduled to take place on September 7, 2023, coinciding with an Investment Summit that would be held in the state. This delay was attributed to political reasons, as there had been changes in the leadership overseeing the project. The new political heads required some time to acclimate to their roles before proceeding with the launch of the private cooperation, ADIC.

The promise made by Governor Charles Soludo to create an import-to-export department within ANSIPPA, under the ADIC, holds the potential to greatly benefit traders in Anambra State by facilitating durable partnerships with overseas counterparts. As the proposed establishment of ADIC approaches, stakeholders eagerly anticipate the realization of this initiative and its positive impact on the state's economic growth and development. The AdvoKC team will continue to monitor and report on further developments regarding this crucial promise.
