The Anambra state Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, in his manifesto promised to train at least 3,000 youths yearly under a skills development program on the creative industry value chain.
According to the latest UNESCO report, the Africa Film and audio-visual industry has the potential to create 20 million jobs and generate a revenue of $20 billion dollars per year. The gain of keeping this promise is huge as it contributes to harnessing the potential of the creative industry in Africa.
Promise: “Train at least 3,000 youths yearly under a skills development program on creative industry value chain”
This sort of training is also essential in a time like this as it will equip young people interested in the creative industry with the skills needed to pursue meaningful livelihood by way of employment or entrepreneurship. From AdvoKC’s findings, no such training has commenced in the state.
As the year draws to a close, we urge the Governor no to leave this promise on paper.
