H.E Prof. Soludo promised to establish the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), charged with monitoring public and private health facilities to ensure registration, accreditation and standardization of all health facilities.
Promise: “Establish the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency(HEFAMAA), charged with Monitoring public and private health facilities to ensure registration, accreditation and standardization of all health facilities.”
In Anambra state, there are approximately 2,000 healthcare facilities, with around 1,500 of them being privately-owned hospitals. These private hospitals cater to the healthcare needs of around 65 to 70 percent of the state's residents. The agency would be charged with the responsibility of monitoring the private and public health facilities to ensure registration accreditation, inspection and monitoring of facilities when established.
Although no timeline was specified or set by Gov. Charles Soludo in the establishment of the agency, issues of health are basic, fundamental, essential and detrimental if not taken seriously and tackled head-on as Reacted by Dr Cater Dike-Umeh, Chairman, of the House Committee on Health during 2022 Revised Budget defence before the House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation. We call on the Governor to prioritize this promise.
